DEWALT DC527 18-Volt NiCd Fluorescent Area Light, No Battery Reviews:

It's great for lighting up a room or any large area that your working in and need a bit of light to see around the area, makes a great lantern type light. I've hung it off a ceiling fan during power outage and it lights up the room well enough to go on about our business around the house (I wouldn't anticipate reading on the other side of the room).

I've dropped it a couple times, at least one the battery popped off, but putting the battery back on it goes right back to working. I've got the other incandescent flashlight, and similar drops would guarantee a bulb going out. Having a few of the 18v batteries around that I keep charged, living in an area with frequent power outages along and having several tool / garden sheds with no power run to them, getting one of these was a pretty big bonus, and I've been happy with it. Happy enough I bought a second one to light up more than one room in a power outage.

But it will go out once the battery no longer has sufficient voltage with no warning. So if your in a black confined area keep and extra light (LED and florescent lights all have this problem, there just isn't much to do about it but keep an extra light or use the old incandescent lights).
